The story of Noah’s sons Japheth, Ham, and Shem (Genesis 9-10) serves as an opportunity to introduce another type of pseudoscience into the classroom, race theory.
It does not, it is simply cladistic genealogy, correct or incorrect. It does not in itself advocate for the present existence of distinct races or for the subjugation of any group. How is this pseudo-science? How is this incompatible with modern genetics?
The idea that racial diversity can be traced back to Noah’s sons has been a foundational component of some forms of racism.
[See footnote to above picture.] It is the incorrect belief that Canaan was a dark-skinned sub-Saharan African and that the curse was one of subjectivity to Japheth alone. The European racists who used this logic did not believe that the Shemites were on equal footing with Japheth nor did they believe that Slavic-Japhethites were on their (Nordic-Japhethite) level.
